The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we have been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:
The Foundation Relations Manager will write funding proposals and grant reports for a four to six figure portfolio of private foundations, corporations and government funding sources and will be key in helping secure funding to meet unprecedented levels of hunger in Atlanta and North Georgia. This individual will work with program, operations and development staff and senior leaders at the Food Bank to develop strong, well-written proposals and reports while also maintaining an aggressive grant submission and reporting calendar and regularly interacting with foundation officers, corporate contacts, and local, state and federal officials. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations, the Foundation Relations Manager will be a part of a team that raises $4M-5M annually, manage relationships with multiple funders, meet non-negotiable deadlines, and will be responsible for helping to grow organizational giving as an integral part of the Food Bank’s strategic plan. The Foundation Relations Manager will also work closely with the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations to identify potential, current and former grant funders ready to begin or increase their giving.
What You’ll Do:
Proposal Management:
· Prepare, write, and submit requests for general operating and program-specific funding each year
· Use initiative to gather needed data, documentation, and information for proposals.
· Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant and funding proposals to private foundations, corporations, civic and religious groups, and governmental bodies
· Assist in the preparation of annual standing cases for support and boilerplate language to be used by the wider Development department in proposals and donor communications
Relationship and Prospect Management:
· Oversee a portfolio of institutional funders with annual giving capacities
of four to six figure gifts
· Work independently to establish, maintain and deepen relationships with
current, past, and prospective institutional funders
· In partnership with the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations and Director of
Institutional Giving, build out an annual moves management plan and stewardship strategy for portfolio and the Foundation Relations team
· Perform regular site visits, informal visits, contacts and check ins, and other forms of cultivation and stewardship activities with portfolio of current, past, and prospective funders
· Participate in donor-related events such as the Atlanta Apartment Association’s Food-a-thon along with other events as assigned
Programmatic Understanding and Reporting:
· Work within the Food Bank to develop a deep understanding of the status of leading programs and projects as well as working closely with the program staff to ensure that outcomes/reporting data are gathered in an organized and timely manner
· Prepare and submit grant, programmatic and financial reports to institutional funding organizations by leveraging, gathering, and compiling compelling data, obtaining updates on current and past activities, and writing any needed text
Process Maintenance and Improvement:
· Actively participate in internal and external grant technical assistance meetings, trainings and webinars related to fundraising and grant management processes
· Prepare funder-specific thank you letters, process all incoming grant documentation and ensure that all Foundation Relations-related donor files are current
· Work with stakeholders to ensure that all grant writing and reporting schedules are up-to-date and on track to meet deadlines
· Take responsibility for personal and professional development and continuously seek opportunities to improve knowledge and skills with new systems, processes, resources, and tools
· Participate in Raiser’s Edge NXT, HR Trainings and other job-related trainings as assigned
What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:
· Exceptional experience writing clear, compelling, and succinct proposals and related documents.
· Possess an understanding of moves management, donor stewardship and major gifts fundraising
· Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
· Ability to use donor data management systems or other CRMs
· Prior experience working with programs funded by restricted grants and contracts
· Strong knowledge of how to maintain highly confidential and proprietary information
· Self-starting with a strong ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

· Experience preparing, submitting and managing government grants
