Who We Are:
The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries about where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support the Nutrition and Wellness team at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Interns will assist with nutrition education and cooking demonstrations both in the Food Bank’s Learning Kitchen and at partner sites, helping to promote healthy eating and food literacy across our community. Tasks may include planning and facilitating classes, preparing materials, and supporting event logistics such as setup, shopping, and clean-up.
In addition to program facilitation, interns will contribute to the development of nutrition resources, create content for social media, and gain exposure to multiple departments to better understand the scope of the Food Bank’s work. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in nutrition who is passionate about community health, trauma-informed care, and hands-on learning in a collaborative environment.
Opportunities to Learn: / Skills You'll Acquire: To gain a well-rounded understanding of the Food Bank’s mission and day-to-day work, interns will have the opportunity to contribute across several program areas, including but not limited to:
Supporting Nutrition and Wellness activities in the Food Bank’s Learning Kitchen and at partner sites
Facilitating basic cooking and nutrition education using food bank inventory
Assisting with planning, shopping, setup, facilitation, and cleanup for classes
Creating menus, lesson plans, and shopping lists tailored to class size
Contributing to the development and upkeep of the nutrition resource library
Building skills in time management, event planning and execution, organization, and teamwork

What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:
Interest in the intersection of hunger, health, food access, and food literacy, trauma-informed service, community education, and building stronger, food secure communities.
At least two years of college experience in nutrition, food science, culinary arts.
Experience with safe food handling practices and customer service
Strong written, verbal communication (public speaking) and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Organized, detail oriented, and flexible
Ability to work independently, with or without supervision
Ability to collaborate and work well with a diverse groups of people
Personal transportation is necessary
Even Better if You Have:
Current ServSafe Food Handlers certification
Actively pursuing a BS or MS degree in nutrition
Experience facilitating cooking demonstrations or educational classes
Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed care
Proficiency in Canva and experience creating food-related social media content
